4 Things To Consider When Choosing Janitorial Services

There are many commercial janitorial services available today, making it difficult to find the one that best fits your needs. However, if you know what to look for, then it will be easier for you to find the best company. There are a number of things that you should keep in mind as you search for the right fit.

1  Make sure that they are affordable

You want to choose a company that will fit your budget. You should ask for a quote before you hire the cleaning company. Even though it is important to consider the cost, it is not always best for you to go with the company with the lowest cost. A price is often reflective of the type of service that you will get. For example with a cut-rate service provider, you may not get quality cleaning products or detail-oriented cleaning which would include dusting door frames or cobweb removal.

2  Availability

You should ask about the times of the day that the company is available, and make sure that it’s convenient for your schedule. After all, you do not want the cleaning company to arrive while you are still conducting business and have clients in your establishment.

3  Make sure the company is credible

It is important to make sure that you are hiring a credible company. You can check with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), a non-profit organization that has accredited over 400,000 businesses in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, and find out if any complaints have been filed against the company. If any complaints have been filed, the BBB will give information on how they were resolved. The BBB also grades companies from A – F based on reputation, complaints, and other public data sources.

When on the BBB website, people are able to write a review on businesses. They are also able to file a complaint against a business. Additionally, people can search for businesses based on the industry that they need and see all of the information that others have shared about the business.

There are several steps that a company has to take in order to get accredited by the Better Business Bureau. A business has to apply for accreditation, and if the company meets the standards, they will be approved. They will also have to pay a fee to maintain their accreditation.

4  Make sure they are bonded and insured
It’s in your best interest to choose a company that is bonded and insured. A company that is bonded has secured money that will be used if a client decides to file a claim against the company. You can ask prospective cleaning companies for a certificate of insurance, which will outline the types of insurance they carry. You will want to look specifically for Workers Compensation and Liability insurances.

Liability insurance will cover your personal property should anything become damaged or broken as a result of the actions of the cleaning company. Workers Compensation insurance serves two purposes. The first, ensuring that any injured employee gets medical care and compensation for lost work. Workers Compensation insurance also protects the employers and clients having work performed at their residence from lawsuits by workers injured on the job.

This brings up another point, it’s good to ask if the cleaning company you are considering uses employees or contractors. If they use contractors, they most likely do not train them, nor do they inspect their work upon completion. Many companies hire contractors because it has become much less expensive than hiring employees and carrying payroll taxes and insurances.

Knowing what to look for in a commercial cleaning company makes your search a bit easier. Now you are armed with the knowledge to begin your search for the perfect company to suit your business’ needs.
